WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE EDV?

The Summer School at FLACSO-Argentina is an intensive program that proposes a unique academic–cultural exchange experience for national and international students.
The seminars and courses are designed for:
Post-graduate students and advanced graduate students (working on a thesis) in Social Sciences and Humanitites
Professionals looking to specialize in teaching Spanish as a foreign language
Non-Spanish-speaking foreign students who seek to learn or perfect their Spanish skills

 

HOW SHOULD I DO TO REGISTER?

Once the registration is open, students must complete the online form and pay the first fee. In the registration process students will be asked to pre-select three (3) courses of their interest by placing them in order of priority to consider the possibility that some course might not cover the minimum number of participants.

 

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM REGISTERED?

A notification will arrive at the email with which you registered to confirm enrollment.

 

WHEN DO THE CLASSES START AND WHEN DO THEY COMPLETE?

The Summer School 2018 edition will have duration of 10 days: starts on February 14 and ends on February 24.

 

HOW ARE the TRANSFERS AND STAY ORGANIZED IN BUENOS AIRES?

The FLACSO Argentina Summer School has a Housing service that offers different types of accommodation to simplify the stay of non-resident students and guarantee an integral space for cultural exchange. This option is not included within the school’s fee as it is optional.

For all non-resident students in Buenos Aires, the Buenos Aires City Government through its Study BA Program offers discounts on transfers between the airport and lodging, discounts on accommodations, a SIM Card and a SUBE card to use the public transport in the city.

HOW IS THE COURSE MODE?

The classes will be classroom classes dictated at the FLACSO Argentina headquarters located at Tucumán 1966. The classroom of each seminar will be confirmed by mail.

 

HOW DO I GET THE NECESSARY BIBLIOGRAPHY?

The Summer School provides all the necessary bibliography through a virtual campus. You will be able to enter to the virtual platform two weeks before the beginning of the classes with the user and password that you used at the time of the inscription.

* The school only provides the digitized bibliographic material.

 

HOW WILL THE EVALUATION OF EACH COURSE BE?

The final evaluation of each course will be decided by each teacher and will be done from a written exercise or a colloquium that focuses on the topics addressed in the seminar (s).

The School grants a maximum period of one week for the delivery of the final works. The delivery of the evaluations by the teachers will be delivered no later than fifteen days later.

Students who do not meet these deadlines may request the Academic Secretary to submit an out-of-term maximum one month after the School ends.

 

WHAT IS THE APPROVAL SCHEME?

The approval of the seminar and / or courses will involve the attendance of at least: • 90% (ninety percent) of the classes (5 of 6) due to the intensity of the courses, the absence of more than one class jeopardizes the course taken for the students. • Approval of an individual final written assignment. The grading scale will be from 1 to 10 and will be considered as approved those works that have obtained a minimum grade of 4 (four) in the evaluation.

 

HOW ARE THE CULTURAL ACTIVITIES ORGANIZED  BY  THE SUMMER SCHOOL?

The cultural activities organized by the School are included within the tariff. For a better organization, they are made with previous inscription through a form for each activity. The organization, they are made with previous inscription. The activities are aimed at the participants to know different corners of Buenos Aires from both a tourist and academic perspective.

 

WILL THERE BE A MEETING POINT FOR SPECIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES?

For both the cultural activities offered by the Summer School and the special activities proposed by each seminar, the meeting point will always be the entrance of FLACSO Argentina in the street Tucumán 1966.

The students will be accompanied in all cases by a teacher or an assistant of the staff of the area.

 

WHAT TYPE OF CERTIFICATE DO I GET?

According to the number of courses you will obtain:

  • Analytical Certificate of approval of the Update Seminar
  • Analytical certificate of course approval

If you only have the condition of attendance and participation (not approval) you are granted the Certificate of Attendance for the course or Seminar chosen, as applicable.

 

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO OBTAIN THE COURSE / SEMINAR CERTIFICATE?

In order to obtain the certificate of either the course or the seminar, the students must have the approval of the courses, have completed the survey of the course and the general survey of the School and have paid 100% of the tariff.

 

WHAT IS THE COST OF COURSES / SEMINARS?

The cost for residents in Argentina is:

$ 700 pesos ARS of tuition

$2300 ARS per course

$ 4300 ARS per seminar

 

The cost for non-residents of Argentina is:

USD 40 tuition

USD 200 per course

USD 360 per seminar

 

* By inscription 2017 until November 30, you get the tuition 100% off.

* By registration 2018 until February 1st, you get a 50% discount on the tuition.

 

HOW CAN I MAKE THE PAYMENT?

You can pay in 1, 2 or 3 payments * through the following payment methods

* Payment can be made in installments depending on the time of registration.

 

DO YOU OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS OR BENEFITS?

Every year benefits are offered to those who register early.

Institutional discounts are also made through agreements for groups of 5 or more students of the same institution.

 

HOW IS THE PROCEDURE IF I CAN NOT CONTINUE WITH THE CURSED?

In case you can not continue with the course for personal reasons you can count on the credit in favor for the next edition of the Summer School or redirect that amount to any other course offered by FLACSO Argentina.

Note that the credit considered will not be 100% of the amount paid due to administrative expenses.

* Important: Due to the administrative policy of the Institution, the amount paid can not be refunded in case of cancellation.
